A 7.2-magnitude earthquake has stuck off the South Pacific island of Vanuatu, triggering a local tsunami warning.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake was measured at a depth of about six miles (10km).
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a warning for areas close to the quake, which was later cancelled.
The Hawaii-based centre added that there was no Pacific-wide threat of a tsunami.
The quake initially registered with a magnitude of 7.6 but was later downgraded.
There were no reports of casualties or damage.
