Backroad Anthem frontman Craig Strickland was last seen at the weekend when he departed for the hunt in Oklahoma with his friend Chase Morland.
The band said in a statement on Facebook that Strickland's father reported the pair missing after not hearing from them for nearly 24 hours.
Rescue crews later found Morland's body, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed on Monday. Strickland, 29, was still missing as of Tuesday morning.
The area where the two went hunting has experienced inclement weather, which Morland eerily alluded to in his last tweet on 27 December.
He wrote: "In case we don't come back' @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma. #IntoTheStorm".
One of Strickland's bandmates told Fox News the singer was an avid hunter - a passion he shared with Morland. Both men regularly posted images from their hunting trips on social media.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the Arkansas-based band asked that people pray for Mr Morland's family.
"They were very close friends and it is such a heartbreaking loss," the post said.
Late on Monday, the band informed its fans that rescue crews planned to resume their search on Tuesday morning using boats rigged with sonar
"Hoping against the odds," the post said. "We can't even stand to think about it. We are devastated."
