One person has been killed and several injured after a Dutch passenger train hit a maintenance crane and derailed.
Pictures on Dutch news websites showed four carriages lying on their side in a field after the collision, which happened at around 9am local time (8am UK time) in Dalfsen, 75 miles (120km) east of Amsterdam.
An eyewitness told Dutch radio station NOS the crane was on caterpillar tracks and was crossing the railway line at the time.
Mayor Han Noten told NOS one person had died and added there were not many passengers on the train.
He said none of the approximately 10 people who had been injured were in a life-threatening condition.
Investigators are heading to the scene to try and establish the cause of the crash on the line between the eastern cities of Zwolle and Emmen.
The train was operated by Arriva, a subsidiary of German company Deutsche Bahn.
A spokesman for Arriva could not immediately be reached for comment.
