Police confirmed that operations were under way at the Opera House and in the beachside suburb of Manly, but did not provide further details.

A ferry to Manly was cancelled and a second ferry was delayed, Transport NSW confirmed.
A police spokeswoman said information on the operations would be provided once they had concluded. She would not confirm whether the two operations were linked.
