Firefighters will continue fighting a blaze at a scrap metal recycling centre in Birmingham later, saying they expect it to be a "protracted incident".
More than 100 firefighters were drafted in to tackle the "severe" blaze at the site in Clarel Avenue at around 2pm on Tuesday.
Over 800 tonnes of mixed plastic, rubber and metal were on fire in the Saltley area, about 2km (1.2 miles) from the city centre.
The plume of smoke caused by the blaze was visible for miles.
Around 4,000 homes in the area were warned their power supplies could be cut overnight as a pylon was isolated for safety reasons at 7.45pm at the request of the fire service.
But Western Power Distribution said all supplies were restored by 9pm.
The fire is thought to have been started accidentally and crews said on Tuesday night they expected to be dealing with it for "at least the next 24 hours".
Chief Fire Officer Phil Loach said: "Fire crews have made progress and the fire has now been surrounded.
"These types of incidents draw in a lot of resources in the initial stages - this is to prevent the fire spreading.
"It is likely to be a protracted incident."
