Three of the injured are being treated for stab wounds after the fight broke out on Walmersley Road shortly after 10pm on Friday evening.
Police said the 10 suspects were fighting with numerous different weapons including an axe, a knife and a hammer, which were found at the scene.
Three men, aged 32, 24, and 22, are being question on suspicion of taking part in the violent disorder.
Greater Manchester Police believe the violence started with a car chase involving a Volkswagen Bora, a silver Seat Leon and a white Hyundai.
GMP Detective Inspector Charlotte Cadden said: "It appears the VW Bora was chased for a short period by the silver Seat Leon and a white Hyundai and a fight broke out between the occupants of the vehicles on the street.
"Extra patrols are now in place in the area, and there a number of scenes which are currently being secured by officers."
Police are searching for the VW with registration number YE53 GHO.
They are also trying to trace a dark-coloured BMW 5 Series which fled the scene with two Asian men and two white men who had previously been in the Volkswagen.
Its registration number starts MD06, police say.
