The 49-year-old attended a police station in Lancashire of his own accord.
A spokesman for the force said: "The man attended by prior appointment and was not arrested. He was interviewed under caution.
"A complaint was made to Lancashire Constabulary on 4 January 2016 by a woman aged 39 of a historic rape dating back to 2006. Inquiries are ongoing."
Mr Danczuk rejected the accusation when it emerged last week and said he was confident his name would be cleared.
He said at the time: "These claims are malicious, untrue and extremely upsetting
"The police have not been in touch with me but I will co-operate fully with any inquiries and am confident my name will be promptly cleared."
In a separate matter, Mr Danczuk is currently suspended from the Labour Party after it was disclosed he had exchanged lewd messages with 17-year-old Sophena Houlihan, who later transpired to be a dominatrix.
Mr Danczuk, who has been a key campaigner in unearthing the Rochdale child sex abuse scandal, has apologised "unreservedly" for his conduct in exchanging messages with Miss Houlihan.
He blamed a drinking problem for his behaviour.
